Hello, my name is James Mitchell. I’m the President and Founder of JTM Training Group, LLC based in Las Vegas, NV. My background includes being a member of the US Air Force Pararescue Team from December 1989 through September 1996. While on active duty, I participated in Desert Storm and the follow-on Operation Provide Comfort. During my last assignment in the Air Force I was a Lead Instructor for the USAF Pararescue Advanced Weapons and Tactics School on Nellis AFB, NV.
In 1996, I left the Air Force and was hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department where I worked for over 3 years on street patrol, then spent the next 6 years as a Team Leader for the Search and Rescue Unit. My duties there entailed Helicopter rescue, High Angle Rope rescue and Medic for the SWAT team. While raising a family and working for the police department, I began the “hobby” of instructing DoD assets in advanced weapons handling and ground tactics. Before I knew it, 10 years had gone by and JTM Training Group, LLC had blossomed into a robust full-time profession.
Today, our company hosts mainly three products:
These training curriculums can be as simple as a two-day advanced pistol class, or may encompass an advanced level Close Quarter Battle course instructed by Tier-1 military assets. If the customer has a need for advanced small arms instruction or ground tactics in a high-desert environment, I’ve truly never seen a program to match our capabilities, flexibility and ability to go beyond the customers needs.
I’d like to introduce you to a remarkable training product like no other found. It’s called the Advanced Operator. This five-day program was designed at the request of USAF helicopter crews flying into harms way. The main focus is to “teach” aircrews a remarkably high skill level with all of their assigned weapons. From here, they are put into varying levels of stressful situations that resemble what they may encounter overseas if forced to land in a non-permissive environment.
Next, we offer a wide range training courses focused around pre-hospital Military Medicine. Tactical Combat Casualty Care is a common thread that weaves most of our classes together. Each curriculum starts out in the classroom setting and quickly moves to a scenario based learning environment. Those students that have been required to perform a tactical/medical scenario under the watchful eyes of JTM instructors will not soon forget the lessons learned.
Unique to JTM are the SOF Medic Refresher course and the newly announced Tac-Med course. These all-encompassing curriculums were designed to allow special operations medics from all NATO services to attain their EMT-Paramedic recertification with a large focus on teamwork, firearms skills, updated medical procedures and realistic scenarios. These courses are a living-breathing entity that are constantly updated and changed to meet the challenges faced by medics working abroad. I’ve had students tell me that this is the true “gem” of our offerings and like no other program in the world.
JTM Training Group was the first ever to be recognized by the US Special Operations Command as being compliant for instructing Military Trauma Training centered on Tactical Combat Casualty Care. This is an honor that we take very seriously and continually strive to maintain.
Lastly, a growing number of our customer’s request custom courses built specifically around their pre-deployment requirements. For this, we open our doors wide open and will give all of JTM’s energy to fulfill each and every requirement beyond the client’s expectations. I would urge any prospective customer to take a look at our ability to meet almost any “operator” ground-based operational training need.
Our heritage has been and will remain focused on high-end custom tailored training. For all of our special programs, we choose the most updated methods of instruction along with professional and well-qualified instructors. Combined with our unique training environment in the high-desert foothills of Las Vegas, our training programs are fast-paced, focused, as well as streamlined to exploit the multi-faceted talents of our clients.
Other training companies who instruct either firearms or pre-hospital medicine seem to focus their attention using a “broad brush” to allow both civilians to train alongside military personnel. We certainly recognize the distinct difference between the two and build our courses accordingly. As a rule, civilians are not allowed to attend our programs.
I invite any military individual, team, unit or squadron to contact me directly at any time to discuss what JTM may be able to do for you.
Thank you for your time. We hope to hear from you soon!
James Mitchell
